Additional Information: Vintage brass Chinese cloisonné enamel lidded ginger jar or temple urn of rounded baluster form, mounted on a carved wooden display stand. The brass body is decorated with polychrome enamel contained within intricate wirework, creating a dense floral and geometric pattern.

The principal decoration features large dark red peony blossoms surrounded by flying purple bats in clouds and green foliage against a pale ground with extensive wire diamond shaped pattern ornament. The peony, traditionally regarded as the “King of Flowers” in Chinese art, is associated with wealth, prosperity, honor, and high status.

The neck is accented by a multicolored ruyi-style border in blue, turquoise, and red, while the lower body incorporates stylized lotus petals. The fitted lid is similarly decorated and topped by a small brass finial. The vessel rests on a traditional carved dark hardwood display stand. The interior and underside are finished with a contrasting blue enamel.
