About this lot
Country of Origin: China, Chinese Porcelain
Style: Sacrificial Blue, jilan
Dimensions: Approx. 10 x 5 in.
Condition: No Visible Flaws
Additional Information: Elegant Chinese porcelain baluster vase finished in a rich monochrome cobalt-blue glaze in the traditional sacrificial blue (jilan) style. The vase features a high shouldered baluster body, flared trumpet rim, pale bluish-white glazed base, and an underglaze blue six character reign mark enclosed within a double circle.
The base bears the inscription:
大清康熙年製
“Made during the Kangxi reign of the Great Qing.”
This is a traditional Kangxi reign mark, though marks of this type were also widely used on later Chinese porcelains as honorific or apocryphal marks, particularly during the late Qing and 20th century. Museum collections document many later Jingdezhen monochrome wares carrying Kangxi marks as a tribute to earlier imperial porcelain rather than as an indication of the actual production date.
