About this lot

Country of Origin: China, Jingdezhen

Style: Traditional Blue and White

Dimensions: Approx. 17 x 10 in.

Condition: No Visible Flaws

Additional Information:  Large vintage Chinese blue-and-white porcelain figure depicting Lu Xing, the Star God associated with prosperity, official rank, career advancement, and social status.

Lu Xing is shown as a dignified bearded court official wearing elaborate ceremonial headgear and formal robes. He holds an auspicious ceremonial implement and is accompanied by a child attendant. His garments are extensively decorated with underglaze cobalt-blue dragons, clouds, waves, mountains, floral borders, and geometric textile patterns. The highly sculptural base features waves, dragons, fish, mythical sea creatures, and suspended decorative elements.

The underside has a central firing vent and a clearly impressed rectangular factory mark reading:

中国景德镇市雕塑瓷厂

Translated as:

Jingdezhen Municipal Sculpture Porcelain Factory, China

This figure was likely produced as one member of a coordinated Fu–Lu–Shou, or Sanxing, series. Only the Lu Xing figure is included in this listing.
